Backing up profiles

From MEPIS Documentation Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Cross-platform applications allow entire profiles to be moved intact from Windows to MEPIS. Firefox, Thunderbird and Opera are all available in Linux. Firefox and Thunderbird profiles can be usually found in Windows at these locations:

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles
C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Firefox\Profiles

Opera profiles are usually located here:

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile

Note: The 'Application Data' directory is not visible when exploring in Windows Explorer. To access it explore to:

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName

Click in the white Address Bar after your name twice and type

\Application Data\

and press Return. You will now be able to see and explore the contents of your 'Application Data' directory.

For later migration, back up the entire folder of the application you want to use to a secure location.
