Disable Clearing Apt-get Cache at Boot Time

From MEPIS Documentation Wiki

Reason: If you don't want to lose the .deb files that you downloaded with apt-get (by default those files are deleted at boot time)

In MEPIS 6.0, go to OS Center -> System Tweaks. Uncheck "Clear packages cache at boot" and click "Apply". In 6.5, go to System --> MEPIS --> MEPIS System Assistant, supply root password, then uncheck "Clear packages cache at boot" and click OK.

Another way:

  1. Start KWrite by typing "kdesu kwrite" in terminal or "run command":
  2. Open /etc/default/mepis file
  3. Change "EMPTY_CACHE=yes" to "EMPTY_CACHE=no"
