Why won't my iPhone mirror to Roku TV?

Ever felt like your devices are conspiring against you? Yep, we’ve all been there. Your iPhone not mirroring to your Roku TV can be super frustrating. First things first, even though you’ve done the basic checks, sometimes it’s the little things we overlook that cause the headache. So, here’s a full rundown you can follow:

  1. Compatibility Check: Make sure your Roku model supports AirPlay. Not all Rokus are created equal. Roku devices generally need to be models 4K or above like the Roku Ultra or Roku Streaming Stick+.

  2. Software Updates: Check both your iPhone and Roku for any available firmware updates. Outdated software can mess with connectivity. Go to Settings on both devices and ensure you’re up to date.

  3. Reset Network Settings: Sometimes, it’s the network settings that mess things up. On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. You’ll have to re-enter your Wi-Fi password afterward, but it can clear up any network glitches.

  4. Enable Screen Mirroring: On your Roku, navigate to Settings > System > Screen mirroring. Ensure that either ‘Prompt’ or ‘Always allow’ is selected.

  5. AirPlay Settings:

    • On Roku, go to Settings > Apple AirPlay and HomeKit, then make sure AirPlay is set to ‘On’.
    • On iPhone, swipe down from the top right to open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, and choose your Roku device.

Now, if you’ve tried all that and still no luck, consider alternatives. There’s an app called the DoCast mirroring app. It’s specially designed for screen mirroring and might work out the kinks you’re experiencing.

It’s not like the devices are possessed—they just need some TLC now and then. If after all this, it still won’t work, might be worth contacting Roku support. Good luck!
